Quick Response Force ordered for Islamabad

Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan Sunday directed to form a Quick Response Force to effectively and timely respond in emergency situations.

Chairing a security related meeting in Islamabad on Sunday‚ the Interior Minister directed Islamabad Police to improve security of Federal Capital.  

The meeting also overviewed the Islamabad incident and security matters.

Chaudhry Nisar also directed Islamabad Police to further tighten the security at all entry and exit points of the Federal Capital. He directed to provide assistance to fulfill required technical needs of Islamabad Police.

The minister approved the Capital Territory Local Government Act 2013.

The meeting reviewed security of the capital after the last week standoff between the police and a gunman for over five hours which had raised questions about the performance of the Islamabad police.

The police had failed to stop a man who carried two machineguns and succeeded to go closer to highly sensitive area.

The police were unable to effectively handled the incident that had made the capital to relatively hostage at the hand of a single man.

The gunman, Sikandar Hayat, was shot and injured by the sniffer when the PPP leader Zamrud Khan broke the security cordon and tried to grab the man.
