Sindh govt denies MQM, ANP arrest charges

Sindh Information Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon has said the provincial government is not carrying out any crackdown against any party in Karachi.
In a statement‚ he said police and Rangers will take action if they receive information about the presence of terrorists anywhere in the city.
He said all the law enforcement agencies; including police‚ and Rangers‚ already have free hand for targeted operations against terrorists.
Sharjeel clarified that the government is not taking into custody any lawmakers of the Muttahida Qaumi Movement.
The MQM leader Dr Farooq Sattar and ANP senator Haji Adeel said the Sindh government is politically victimizing its opponents and wanted to force MQM to become part of the provincial government.
Talking to media they said that intolerance for constructive opposition was indication of dictatorial approach.
Farooq Sattar said that lists were being prepared to arrest the opponents as part of political vendetta.
Adeel said nearly 100 ANP activists have been locked in police stations in Karachi.
