Explosion kills five children in Afghanistan

Shamsoddin Sarhadi, governor of Doshi District in Baghlan Province, said that the explosion in Fayazqol area of the district, Afghan Islamic Press news agency reported.
He also said: “Some children were feeding their animals in a pasture when a mine planted by armed opponents exploded. It martyred five and wounded three of them”.
Although, the district governor accused the armed opponents of planting the mine, a source said that it was not clear whether the explosion was caused by an old missile, mine or a newly-planted mine.
Taleban have denied involvement in inflicting civilian casualties. They have said that mines they use are controlled remotely.
But the Afghan government and the international community said that most civilian casualties had been inflicted by Taleban’s mines.
Meanwhile officials said that an explosion occurred in Chowk-e Shahidan of southern Afghan Kandahar Province injuring several people.
Spokesman for Kandahar Governor Jawid Faisal confirmed the report, Afghanistan’s Channel One TV has reported.
In another incident a car bomb hit an area near a branch of the new Kabul Bank when security forces were receiving their salaries.
