Imran Khan warns to stop NATO supplies over US drone strikes
Tuesday, September 3rd, 2013 10:11:27 by Tahir KhanChairman Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Imran Khan has warned that his party will block NATO supplies if the government failed to stop US drone attacks inside Pakistan’s territory.
Some 70 percent supplies are transported to NATO troops in Afghanistan through Pakistan, the shortest and cheap route.
The United Stars is also using Pakistan’s land route for withdrawal of heavy machinery from Afghanistan and will seek the same route for withdrawal of troops.
Imran Khan condemned the US strikes in the tribal regions and said the PTI gov’t in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa supplies to nearly 150,000 US-led NATO forces. The KPK is one of the two major supply lines to Afghanistan.
Khan’s warning came just two days after an American spy aircraft killed at least four people in North Waziristan tribal region.
“We will have to pull out of the US war to end suicide attacks in the country,” the PTI chief said.
On the possible talks with the Taliban, Imran Khan said that his party will support the government over peace talks with Taliban.
He said the government and establishment will have to be on one page to effectively handle this issue to restore peace in the country.
Imran said the entire nation should also be taken on board and the peace talks must be held through tribal leaders.
