Zardari says will work for democracy

He was talking to a delegation comprised former Prime Ministers Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani‚ Raja Pervaz Ashraf and a group of ex parliamentarians from Punjab in Islamabad on Wednesday.
The participants of the meeting congratulated the President for successfully completing his five years tenure as President and lauded his efforts for strengthening democracy and democratic institutions in the country.
The President said that we will continue working for democracy‚ supremacy of the Parliament and the uplift of the people of the country.
He said that the ongoing smooth and peaceful transition of powers from one democracy to the other shows the maturity of democracy and development of democratic norms and culture in the country and termed it a great victory of the democracy loving people.
Iranian Ambassador Alireza Haghighian called on President Asif Ali Zardari in Islamabad on Wednesday.
Pak-Iran bilateral relations were discussed during the meeting.
A group of envoys in Pakistan also jointly called on President Asif Ali Zardari in Islamabad on Wednesday.
They included Ambassador of Iraq Dr. Rushdi Al-Ani‚ ambassador of Egypt Said Mohamed El Said Hindam‚ ambassador of Palestine‚Walid A.M. Abu Ali‚ Syrian Chargé d’ affaires Dr. Ali Muhra and Charge d’Affairs of Libya Abdul Wahed Abugila.
Pakistan’s relations with these countries were discussed during the meeting.
The President also hosted lunch for the ambassadors.
Governor Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Engineer Shaukatullah also called on President Asif Ali Zardari in Islamabad. Overall situation in the province particularly FATA was discussed during the meeting.
