Saturday, September 7th, 2013 2:52:53 by Tahir KhanThe security agencies claimed Saturday the arrest of five people, including three women, and foiled a terror plot in Islamabad.
Official sources say the security agencies recovered heavy amount of explosives and remote-controlled fibre planes from the basement of a house in Gulshan-e-Kashmir area of Islamabad.
They said the law enforcement agencies carried out a search operation in the house located Gulshan-e-Kashmir in Sector G-15 of the federal capital early morning and recovered Detonators, Kalashnikovs, Pistols, Hand grenades and a Wireless set from the house.
Remote-controlled spy instruments, toys filled with explosives and remote controlled planes were also recovered from the house, which likely to be used for carrying out terrorist activities. The bomb disposal squad diffused the explosive material.
A case has been registered against the accused at Tarnol police station.
Police did not disclose identity of the arrested persons who are being investigated at an undisclosed location.
They are likely to be produced in an anti-terrorism court to hand over them to the police for interrogation.
Independent verification of the police claim is difficult as the police have not shared anything officially with the media.
This is the second time in less than a month the police have seized explosives in Islamabad.
An explosive-laden car was seized at Barakahu area of Islamabad late last month.
