Main accused of Chilas attack arrested
Thursday, September 12th, 2013 4:14:54 by Tahir KhanOfficials in northern areas said Thursday that the main accused of Chilas tragedy Hamidullah has been arrested from Kohistan during a search operation.
According to police‚ the accused had gunned down a colonel‚ captain and a Senior Superintendent Police (SSP) last month in Chilas.
The slain officials were investigating the massacre of 10 tourists and their Pakistani guide at the foot of the Nanga Parbat.
The raid was conducted on the tip given by two Taliban members during interrogation.
Hamidullah was accused of the killing of Superintendent Police Hilal Ahmed, Colonel Ghulam Mustafa and Captain Ashfaq Aziz in Chilas district.
The suspect was shifted to an unidentified location and was interrogated for more information on the cold-blooded murder.
On June 23, gunmen dressed as paramilitary forces killed 10 foreign tourists in an unprecedented attack in Gilgit-Baltistan. The gunmen stormed into a base camp, killing Chinese and Ukrainian climbers.
The TTP accepted responsibility for the attack, terming it revenge against the US drone attacks and killing of TTP chief Waliur Rehman Mehsud.
