Earlier‚ Attorney General Munir A Malik sought one week time for the appointment of Chairman NAB. The court rejected the arguments of the attorney general describing them as irrelevant.
The attorney general said consultation is underway for the appointment of an uncontroversial chairman NAB.
He said the appointment has not been made due to the visit of leader of the opposition abroad.
Hearing of the case has been adjourned for an indefinite period.
The government has not yet appointed new NAB chief after the removal of Admiral ® Fasih Bukhari on the order by the Supreme Court.
Bukhari had been appointed by the PPP government in a controversial decision.
The gov’t is in consultations with the opposition for a consensus NAB chief and talks have not yet reached any conclusion.

This will be very good if NAB chief is appointed by SC because ruling party and opposition doing politics on this very vital issue. It must be better in favour of Pakistan that NAB will report to SC other wise influence of political parties will not allow institute to work on required path.
