Gov’t, opposition in NAB appointment talks
Saturday, September 14th, 2013 4:29:26 by Tahir KhanFinance Minister Ishaq Dar has spoken to Leader of the Opposition‚ Syed Khursheed Ahmed Shah‚ who is currently in London‚ about the appointment of Chairman National Accountability Bureau.
The two sides discussed the issue a day after the Supreme Court directed the government to appoint Chairman NAB.
The position has been vacant since the removal of the NAB chief, admiral ® Fasih Bukhari, few months ago.
Dar apprised the opposition leader of the court’s orders and emphasized the need for immediate appointment of Chairman NAB according to the directions of the apex court.
The Minister said both the government and the opposition should sit together to bring a consensus chairman.
The Opposition leader said he is returning to Pakistan on 19th of this month and will make efforts to develop consensus on this issue.
In an interview‚ Syed Khurshid Shah said that the name of Chairman National Accountability Bureau will be finalized by 21st of this month.
He said that he will return home from London on the 18th of this month and will meet the Prime Minister to resolve the issue of the appointment of Chairman NAB.
