Bomber kills 75, injures 110 in Church in Peshawar

The bomber succeeded to enter the church in Kohati gate area of Peshawar when Christians were performing services on Sunday, Chief Commissioner Peshawar, Sahibzada Anis said.
Officials and doctors confirmed 75 deaths and nearly 110 more were injured. They were shifted to the city’s main Lady Reading Hospital. Doctors said several injured were in critical condition.
Doctors said that several women and children were among those killed and injured in the deadly attack.
Witnesses say over 600 Christians were inside the church at the time of the suicide attack.
Residents started shifting the injured to nearby hospital in private vehicles and later ambulances also arrived at the scene to transfer the injured.
Relatives complained that there were only few doctors and the injured faced difficulties in getting treatment on time.
TV footage showed of the injured at the scene and in hospital. The blast also damaged the Church, one of Pakistan’s old churches.
Christians said the security arrangements were enough, however officials said the police guard stopped the bomber outside the gate where he exploded his bomb.

Police fired in the air and used tear gas to disperse protesters in Karachi, where the demonstrators burnt tyrs to block roads.
No group claimed responsibility for the attack. The government blames Taliban militants for such attacks.
Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif strongly condemned the bomb blast which resulted into the loss of precious human lives and injured many in Peshawar.
The Prime Minister said that terrorists have no religion and targeting innocent people is against the teachings of Islam and all religions. He added that such cruel acts of terrorism reflect the brutality and inhumane mind set of the terrorists.
The Prime Minister expressed solidarity with the Christian Community and deeply sympathized with the bereaved family and prayed for the early recovery of those injured in the blast.
