Blast in govt employees bus kills 20 near Peshawar

A bomb blast in a bus of government employees killed 20 persons near Peshawar on Friday, police and witnesses said.

Police said that over 40 more people, including employees, of the Peshawar Secretariat were also injured in the blast on Charsadda road.

The bus was carrying government employees and was heading to Charsadda, a main city some 30 kilometers from Peshawar, to drop employees at homes.

The injured were shifted to nearby hospitals and Peshawar, police said. Locals started shifting the injured in private vehicles. Ambulances also arrived at the scene.

Police sources said preliminary investigation suggests that the bomb was believed to be attached to the bus.

The bus was also badly damaged in the blast.

No group claimed responsibility. All those killed in the attack were civilians.
