Pakistani artists are leading the way as painters and photographers and their talent and skills are being appreciated all over the world as they have made their mark as renowned artists, painters and photographers.

Recently an exhibition of a female Pakistani painter, Annem Afzaal Zaidi was held in Kuala Lumpur and now yet another International Islamic Art and Calligraphy exhibition is being held in the heart of Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

The International Islamic Art and Calligraphy Exhibition 2013 will be held from 5 – 13 October 2013 at White Box, mapKL at Solaris Dutamas from 10am to 5pm daily. Artwork of well-known Pakistani artists such as MA Bokhari, AQ Arif, Tahir Bin Qalandar, Musarat Arif and Amjad Butt will be exhibited. Datin Rubab Fatima, who is a well-known art connoisseur is the solo organizer of this unique exhibition and she will be introducing this form of artwork to the Malaysian public.

Ahsan Qureshi, a budding photographer and artist in his own right, who had previously participated in various photography exhibitions and did his first solo exhibition in Kuala Lumpur in 2011, will also be holding a separate photography exhibition, “Depth and Deception” from 3 – 31 October 2013 at the Westin Kuala Lumpur.

He had also worked with Walt Disney and this is his fifth international exhibition and the second one in Kuala Lumpur. He is also a visiting lecturer on photography and his first feature film as a co-producer will be released by the end of 2013.

Mr. Shahid M. G. Kiani, Pakistan High Commissioner to Malaysia is supporting this exhibition as he believes that showcasing Pakistani talent and Islamic calligraphy will provide an excellent opportunity to popularize it in Malaysia as this art is not much known in this region, even though it is extremely popular in South Asia, the Gulf and the West.

Aside from Pakistani artists, contemporary artists from Iran and Malaysia will also present an array of Islamic inspired art at the International Islamic Art and Calligraphy Exhibition. The exhibition will be featuring calligraphic works, a major form of artistic expression in Islamic cultures, arabesque motifs, mix medium, oil paintings and photography depicting the rich Islamic culture and heritage of the artists’ respective countries.

The exhibition apart from the refined specimens of calligraphic inscriptions, also touches on architecture and Sufism.
