President urges NAB to ensure impartial accountability
Friday, October 4th, 2013 4:43:01 by Tahir KhanPresident Mamnoon Hussain has urged the National Accountability Bureau to ensure impartial and transparent accountability to guide the country out of the menace of corruption.
Addressing the certificate distribution ceremony of NAB trainees in Islamabad today‚ he said the accountability bureau should strive to restore the confidence of the people in the system and institutions.
Mamnoon Hussain pointed out that the corruption destroys the very fabric of society‚ social institutions and undermines the value of work and dignity of human beings. Therefore all the concerned departments will have to play their role to curb this menace.
The president expressed the confidence that the newly inducted officers of NAB will maintain the reputation of honest and upright officers and discharge their duties with utmost honesty‚ professionalism and integrity to combat the menace of corruption.
He said the NAB officers should not get influenced by any other consideration but by the rule of law alone.
He hoped the NAB officers will utilize all their knowledge and analytically skills to ensure rule of law and further improve the performance of the National Accountability Bureau.
Speaking on the occasion‚ Deputy Chairman NAB Saeed Ahmad Sargana said the bureau is pursuing three pronged strategy of awareness‚ prevention and enforcement to rid the country of corruption.
He said despite shortage of manpower‚ the bureau is vigorously pursuing the cases registered during the previous Chairman NAB.
Saeed Ahmad Sargana said the NAB is currently conducting prosecution of five hundred and ninety nine references and it has recovered an amount of twenty five billion rupees through voluntary return and pre-bargain plea.
