Pakistan Hockey Players Will Not Be a Part of Hockey India League

For the second time running, Pakistani hockey players have been ruled out of the Hockey India League. A total of 59 players from 12 countries will be participating in this league along with the local Indian talent, but the refusal of franchise owners to provide additional security to the Pakistani players means that they will not be invited.
Earlier this year, the Pakistani players were sent home after hard line Hindu activists protested at the home stadium of Mumbai Magicians which had the services of four Pakistani players. The protest arose amid increasing tension on the Line of Control which separates the Pakistani and Indian held Kashmir. With the tensions still running high between both countries, this move does not come as surprise.
