Monday, October 28th, 2013 5:11:37 by Ahmad MehdiThe Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) restored 20 memberships of lawmakers which had been suspended earlier after their failure to submit details relating to their assets.
Memberships of lawmakers who had then submitted their details have been restored by the ECP. While the deadline for submission of these details was October 15, it was extended due to the occurrence of Eid-ul-Azha, which resulted in national holidays.
The suspension was made in accordance with the Representation of People Act 1976, which stipulates that all elected representatives must declare details pertaining to their assets every year on September 30.
Faisal Raza Abidi, Shahjehan Baloch and Alizeh Iqbal are among the 20 lawmakers whose memberships have been restored.
