South African Captain AB De Villiers looking to bring the game to Pakistan
Tuesday, October 29th, 2013 3:03:27 by Ahmad MehdiAB De Villiers, the South African One-Day Captain, has vowed to bring the attack to Pakistan and take an early lead in the five game ODI series, starting from 30th October.
Citing the lack of preparation as the cause behind the shock loss in the first test at Abu Dhabi, De Villiers, who is the number one test batsman and the number two one day batsman in the world.
“We didn’t have much time for preparation so its really up for us mentally to get prepared but it’s important to have a good start, get used to the conditions and adapt as quickly as possible and attack them in areas where they are not strong,” said De Villiers on Tuesday.
“We are tactically working on getting the right side which could give us the best opportunity to get a 1-0 lead. I am looking forward to see the guys performing well in the greens,” said De Villiers, who last led his team to a 4-1 loss against the Sri Lankans.
Talking about why premier fast bowler Dale Steyn has been rested for the first two one dayers, De Villiers said
“Dale needed some rest but hopefully he will join us in good stead,”
The series has huge significance as far as the ratings are concerned. Pakistan can displace the Proteas at the number fourth spot, should they manage a 3-2 result.
