BCCI announced 15-man squad for Test series against West Indies
Friday, November 1st, 2013 2:27:41 by Ahmad MehdiThe Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has released the names of the players which will make up the Indian squad in the upcoming series against the touring West Indies.
Pacer Zaheer Khan has once again been overlooked as selectors decide to back tall pacer Ishant Sharma for the series which will see the two teams play two 5-day matches.
Suresh Raina will be replaced by Shikhar Dhawan, who has been in top form lately and all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja will be resting on account of his shoulder injury.
Ravichandaran Ashwin, Pragyan Ojha and Amit Mishra will form the spin bowling department after Harbhajan Singh too was dropped from the squad.
These two upcoming Test matches will complete Sachin Tendulkar’s 200Tests, making him the first batsman to have that record. The first match will be played from November 6 onwards in Kolkata while the second one will be in Sachin’s hometown of Mumbai from November 14.
The 15 players that makeup the squad include: Mahendra Singh Dhoni (C), Sachin Tendulkar, Shikhar Dhawan, Murali Vijay, Cheteshwar Pujara, Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma, Ajinkya Rahane, R Ashwin, Bhuvaneshwar Kumar, Pragyan Ojha, Amit Mishra, Umesh Yadav, Mohammed Shami and Ishant Sharma.
