There were several Punjab University students who were eventually taken into custody because they were involved in different cases. The charges against all these students included misbehaving with teachers, violence, damaging public property and even blocking roads. These students were involved in such activities and it was decided that these students must be answerable for their actions.
Reports claim that the Lahore police decided to register nine cases against 121 students of the university. 21 of these students have been identified by name and that is the reason why they were named in the FIR. On the other hand, the other 100 students still remain unknown and their name could not be filed. The police department filed their report as ‘unknowns’ since their identity is yet to be revealed.
Six of the 21 students who have been identified will be presented in court. In retaliation, Islami Jamiat Tulba has been staging protests as they have taken to the streets following a police raid that took place at a hostel. The protest saw chaos at Wahdat Road and one bus was also set on fire.
