Barca Takes First Step in Copa Del Rey

Barcelona took on Cartagena in the Spanish Cup, also known as the Copa del Rey, on Friday. The Spanish champions started the away game after going through a patchy form as they lost two back to back games before facing their Copa del Rey opponents.

The first game which Barcelona lost was against the Dutch giants, Ajax, as the two sides faced each other in the UEFA Champions League. La Blaugrana, who are always favourites to reach the semi-final stage of the European competition, are currently missing their star striker, Lionel Messi, and without him it was hard for them to win the game against Ajax. The Catalan giants lost the match 2-1, leaving the world in a shock.

The second game which the Spanish champions lost was against a mid-table Athletic Bilbao side. The match ended 1-0 in favour of Bilbao, taking three points away from Barcelona, leaving them on level terms with Atletico Madrid.

However, they had a chance to make a comeback against Cartagena and they managed to do so. They scored four goals and Pedro Rodriguez was able to showcase his talents in front of the goal.

Out of the four goals, Pedro Rodriguez scored two, Cesc Fabregas scored one, while the young striker, Jean Marie Dongou, was able to score one as well. On the other hand, Fernando scored for Cartagena in order to give them the lead in the 16^th minute
