Waqar Younis to be inducted into the ICC Hall of Fame

The Burewala Bombshell, and one of the best fast bowlers in the history of the game, Waqar Younis has been announced as one of the four inductees in the ICC Hall of Fame for the year 2013-14.

Prolific Australian wicketkeeper Adam Gilchrist was the other person announced for the coveted position while two other inductees will be announced by the end of this month. Waqar, who captained Pakistan in 17 Tests and 62 ODIs, was humbled by the honour.

“As I look forward to the day, I’m truly grateful to the people who’ve considered me worthy of such an honour,” Waqar , who will be inducted into the Hall of Fame before the first T20 international between Pakistan and Sri Lanka on Dec 11, said.

He is the fourth male player from Pakistan to have been bestowed with this honour and now finds himself in the elite company of Imran Khan, Javed Miandad and Wasim Akram.
