Afridi Guides Pakistan to Victory
Wednesday, December 11th, 2013 11:58:49 by Ahmad MehdiPakistan faced Sri Lanka in their first T-20 fixture which was being played at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium.
Even though these series are taking place in Dubai, they are being noted as home to Pakistan since Pakistan cannot host a cricketing event.
Sri Lanka were the first ones to bat in the T-20 fixture and they managed to set a target of 146 runs. The men in green were able to chase the target after a few anxious moments and they had 3 wickets and 5 balls to spare.
Shahid Afridi was the man to watch and he was the player who gave out a match-winning knock. The Pakistani star all-rounder scored 39 runs from just 20 balls. His innings included 2 fours and 3 sixes, one of which was hit on the last ball to end the game in style.
The former Pakistani captain, Shahid Afridi, also managed to become the first player in the history of T-20 internationals to score 1000 runs and get 50 wickets.
On the other hand, Sharjeel Khan and skipper, Muhammad Hafeez, also played vital roles in the game. Sharjeel scored a massive 34 while Hafeez scored 32 to help Pakistan achieve the target.
Malinga was the best player for Sri Lanka as he picked up 3 wickets and gave away only 26 runs.
