Obama Receives US Surveillance Report

Saturday, December 14th, 2013 6:50:28 by

A review panel recently handed Barack Obama a report on Friday about the surveillance by the US spy agencies after the revelations of vast internet and phone sweeps by Edward Snowden.

The report had 40 recommendations which the White House is going to consider and sources claim that Obama is going to deliver a speech on this subject after he has fully reviewed the report himself.

The report has also requested Obama to continue the National Security Agency (NSA) surveillance program, which has helped alarm the US allies and civil liberties groups over the years.

The White House is expected to study the five-man panel’s work and then decide upon the recommendations which they should adopt and the ones that still need working. It is reported that a few recommendation are expected to be discarded.

The report also underlines how Washington can put their intelligence capability to good use and guard their national security while they maintain public’s trust.

Recently several phone calls, e-mails and information was leaked from the internet and it was all done by the help of Snowden.

However, the leaks have been quite an embarrassment for the White House and they have also damaged the national security of the United States. US Allies have been angered due to the scale of the eavesdropping.
