Chelsea Out of Carling Cup
Wednesday, December 18th, 2013 11:10:06 by Ahmad MehdiLast night Chelsea played against Sunderland while being away from home. The central London club was expected to win the game, since they are currently playing under the Portuguese coach, Jose Mourinho. The former Real Madrid boss is famous for his extremely brilliant tactics and many people deem him to be the best coach in the world.
However, despite having the best players and the best coach at their disposal, the Blues had to bow out of the Carling Cup after they picked up a 2-1 loss against Sunderland while playing away from home.
Sunderland are considered to be a weaker side in the competition and many thought that after scoring the first goal through Frank Lampard, Chelsea will easily go through to the next round.
However, Sunderland equalized right before the final whistle was blown. The Blues leaked in a crucial goal and then the game moved into extra time.
After playing the first fifteen minutes of extra time, the second half started and all the people sitting in the stadium thought that the match will head on to penalties. However, Ki Sung Yeung was able to penetrate through Chelsea’s defence and scored a wonder goal to help Sunderland reach the next round of the competition.
