It was recently reported from Islamabad that the Pakistan Tehreek e Insaf chairman, Imran Khan, has received death threats after his remarks on polio teams being attacked by the militants.

On Wednesday Imran Khan came out in the open and spoke about those polio workers who lost their lives while trying to provide the children with polio vaccinations.

He declared that the polio team and workers are soldiers of Islam since they are providing polio drops to children, who need them. He stated that militants who are killing the polio workers are not doing any justice to Islam, humanity or even the Pakistanis.

Pakistan is one of the only few countries in the world that still serves as a home to the disease called polio. The efforts to stamp this problem out of the country are badly affected by attacks on the workers who try to provide vaccination for it.

While addressing the public, Shireen Mazari, explained how Imran Khan received death threats after he spoke against the killing of the polio workers. Shireen Mazari said:

“Mr Khan received a threat from Ansarul Mujahideen over his remarks over anti-polio campaign.”

2.3 million Children of nine districts are to be targeted in the immunisation drive as 62 polio cases have already been reported in the tribal areas of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
