General Raheel Sharif appointed as the new army chief Islamabad : Pakistan Army Lieutenant General Raheel Sharif, has been appointed the new commander and Lt Gen Rashid Mehmood will be the new chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee. The president grateful Hussain under Article 3 of the Constitution appointed Lieutenant General Raheel Sharif , Lt Gen Rashid Mehmood to the rank of General. Starting tomorrow both lieutenant General will be full Generals. Starting November 29, Gen Raheel Sharif will replace General Pervez Kiyani as a new army chief . On the same day, the new chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee , General Rashid Mehmood will assume the office. The General Raheel Sharif is the younger brother of Raheel Sharif who laid down his life to defend the country 's honor. Raheel Sharif has the honor of Commanding Pakistan Military Academy, Kakul. After the appoitment of the new Army Chief on Nov 30 , 2010, Raheel Sharif was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant General of the Pakistan Army Corps commander Gujranwala. Currently Raheel Sharif is appointed as Inspector General Training and evaluation at the General GHQ.

In recent news from Islamabad it was reported that the current president of Pakistan, Mamnon Hussain, conferred Chairman Joint Chief of Staff Committee, General Rashad Mehmood; and Chief of Army Staff, General Rasheed Sharif, with Nisan e Imtiaz. The ceremony took place in Awan e Sadr, Islamabad.

 

Pakistan recently managed to complete its full democratic term and even the Chief of Army Staff, Retired General Pervez Kiani, completed his term as the Chief of Army Staff. Moreover, the president of Pakistan, Asif Ali Zardari, also managed to become a president who completed his full term on his seat and passed his legacy on to Mamnoon Hussain. Besides this, the Chief Justice of Pakistan also retired in due time and completed his full term. The former Chief Justice of Pakistan was Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry, and after managing to stay in power for his full term, he retired and it was Chief Justice Tassaduq Hussain Jillani who took over from him.

After the approval of the current Prime Minister of Pakistan, Mian Muhammad Nawaz Shareef, it was decided that Nishan e Imtiaz will be presented to the current Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee and Chief of Army Staff.

A reception was also hosted by the president in honour of the guests.
