Car Bomb in Egypt Leaves 14 Dead

It was reported from Cairo that a bomb, planted inside a car, tore through the police headquarters of the capital city and left 14 dead with most of them being policemen and medics.

 

This bombing has occurred just a few weeks before Egypt is going to hold referendum for the new constitution. The country’s military authorities are going to be the ones who will take the first step towards the democratic rule after army took over and ousted the Islamist president, Mohamed Mors back in July.

The security sources of the country stated that the explosion which took place in the North of Cairo was massive and a lot has been lost due to the incident.

The medics, who were present close to the area, stated that the bombing left more than 100 people wounded. They stated:

“The majority of the casualties are from the police.”

The governer of Daqahleya confirmed that the cause of the explosion was a car bomb.

He also stated that the impact of the explosion was almost 20 kilometres and it shattered the glass windows of several nearby buildings.

The head of the security of Deqahleya, Sami Eh-Mihi, was also left wounded after the blast took place and it was also reported that two of his aides lost their lives as well.
