Jayawardene returns for Test series against Pakistan
Tuesday, December 24th, 2013 9:19:54 by Ahmad MehdiAccording to SLC (Sri Lanka Cricket), veteran Sri Lankan batsman and former captain Mahela Jayawardene is going to make an appearance in the upcoming 3-match Test series to be played against Pakistan later this month.
36-year-old Jayawardene is going to be part of the 16-man squad for the Test series in UAE and is the only batsman in the lineup, apart from Kumar Sangakkara, to have scored over 10,000 Test runs.
The Sri Lankan lineup is also expected to have a 22-year-old new comer, Vishwa Fernando, who is taking the spot as a bowler. Fernando has 37 wickets under his belt from 15 first-class matches and is going to be accompanied by all-rounder Dilruwan Perera who will be replacing Ajantha Mendis.
The first Test of the 3-match series is going to be played in Abu Dhabi on December 31 while the second will be played in the New Year, between January 8 and 12, in Dubai. Sharjah will host the final encounter between the two sides from January 16 to 20.
