JI Demands Halting of North Waziristan Operation
Wednesday, December 25th, 2013 5:39:13 by Ahmad MehdiIt was reported from Lahore that the chief of Jamaat e Islami (JI), Munawar Hassan, claimed on pleaded to the government on Wednesday that they should halt the military operation that is currently taking place in the North Waziristan Agency.
While talking about the whole scenario, Munawar Hassan said:
“It was a military operation that led to the separation of East Pakistan (present-day Bangladesh). Now, same kind of onslaughts are being waged in Balochistan, tribal areas, and Karachi.”
Hassan also stated that Pakistan should withdraw all their forces from the tribal areas as this has been done only due to the pressure of the United States.
He added:
“The government must recall all the troops from NWA, which is on fire these days.”
He claimed that all this is only adding to the problems of Pakistan. He believes that due to the military operations taking place in the tribal areas, they tend to retaliate and Pakistan becomes a target rather than a friend.
The JI Ameer, while talking to the press, said:
“What good have these operations ever done to Pakistan? Such actions invariably lead to nothing but Balkanization.”
