Barca and Atletico Madrid Level on Points
Thursday, December 26th, 2013 9:45:46 by Ahmad MehdiThe Spanish champions, Barcelona, are finding it hard to remain on top of La Liga as an unlikely opposition, Atletico Madrid, is giving its best this season.
Under their new Argentinean coach, Diego Simeone, Atletico Madrid have somehow managed to reform. Even though they lost one of their star strikers, Radamel Falcao, they have still not backed down in the goal-scoring department. Their old striker, Diego Costa, and the former Barcelona player, David Villa, have both been performing well this season and they have somehow managed to accumulate as many points as the Spanish champions, Barcelona.
La Blaugrana were not favourites to win the title, but after the signing of the Brazilian kid, Neymar, and the new coach, Tata Martino, Barcelona have shown what they were lacking. They do not rely on the same old tiki-taka style of play and their direct football has helped them remain on top of the Spanish La Liga table.
The Catalan giants are currently leading the table only due to the goal difference which they have maintained. La Blaugrana have scored 49 goals and conceded only 12 in return. On the other hand, Atletico Madrid are only behind with two less goals. They have scored 46 goals and conceded 11, making their goal difference 35.
Both the teams are currently sitting on 46 points with Real Madrid being third with only 41 points.
