Ban on Pillion Rides Lifted in Karachi
Thursday, December 26th, 2013 9:39:57 by Ahmad MehdiIt was reported from Karachi that the ban which was imposed on pillion riding has now been lifted by the Sindh government. It was imposed due to the security threat to the city during the last few days. There were several arrangements made for 25th of December which observes Quaid e Azam’s birthday and also Christmas, a Christian Festival.
The Sindh Government decided to ban pillion riding in the vicinity of the city because there were several events taking place at the same time. On Tuesday the country was sealed because of Imam Hussain (AS)’s Chehlum. The roads were blocked because people were out on the roads mourning their leader’s loss.
Later, on Wednesday, the country was expecting a lot of people to be out. Therefore, in order to avoid any problems within Karachi, the Sindh Government decided to ban pillion riding. No bikers were allowed to carry a passenger on their back seat throughout these two days.
Several people came from Sindh to go to Quaid e Azam’s tomb, as they wanted to pray for their leader. On the other hand, the Christian community was out celebrating Christmas. Most of them visited the church and lit candles throughout the night.
