IHC Rejects Musharraf’s Pleas
Friday, December 27th, 2013 11:52:41 by Ahmad MehdiIt was reported from Islamabad that the Islamabad High Court has rejected the pleas which was presented by the former President of Pakistan, General (Retd) Pervez Musharraf.
Musharraf is currently going through a case for treason and that is the reason why he spent a few months under house arrest. However, now he is going to fight his case in order to prove himself innocent.
Former President of Pakistan, General (Retd) Pervez Musharraf, appealed to the court that he wants a special court to try him for treason. However, on Thursday evening, the Islamabad High Court issued an 11-page verdict after they took a decision against what Musharraf was requesting. The final verdict has now been given and this means that Musharraf will not be tried for treason in a special court.
The verdict claims that the objections which were raised in order to form the special court of justice had absolutely no legal status and it was not possible.
The 11-page document also claimed that under article 6 it is not possible to constitute a court which permits the proceedings of the case under the army act.
On the other hand, Musharraf has challenged the special court, its formation and the appointment of prosecutor in the treason case.
