Pakistan choose to field first in first Test against Sri Lanka
Tuesday, December 31st, 2013 12:20:04 by Hunain NaseerPaksitan cricket team’s captain, Misbah-ul-Haq won the toss and chose to field first in the first of the three-match Test series against Sri Lanka, played today at the neutral Abu Dhabi venue.
Young batsman Ahmed Shehzad will be making his Test debut today along with pacer Bilawal Bhatti. Azhar Ali has been dropped to make room for Mohammad Hafeez, who was absent from the lineup in the Test series against South Africa earlier this year.
Pakistan is entering the match with three pacers, Junaid Khan, Rahat Ali and debutant Bilawal Bhatti while the Lankan lions have two pacers and two spinners, with Sachitra Senanyake making his debut.
Prior to this Test series, Pakistan and Sri Lanka played a 2-match T20 series and a 5-match ODI series. While the T20 series was drawn 1-1, the Green Shirts bagged the ODI series after winning three matches under Misbah-ul-Haq’s captaincy.
