Former Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon critically ill
Thursday, January 2nd, 2014 4:27:54 by Ahmad MehdiThe man who fought in all the Israeli wars since 1948 and is considered a hero in Israel is apparently breathing his last. Sharon became prime minister in 2001, before suffering a major stroke in 2005, and has been in coma since 2006, when he suffered a second stroke.
He has been in a vegetative state since then, but more recently, has experienced a ‘critical malfunction’ of his vital organs.
According to Professor Zeev Rotstein of Tel Hashomer hospital, the doctor who is supervising the ex prime minister: “I am no prophet, but the feeling of his doctors and his sons… is that there has been a change for the worse.
“We are defining his condition as critical, and there is definitely a threat to his life. The feeling of everyone… is that this decline is very serious.”
Although adored at home, Sharon is considered the architect of various invasions and mass murders which Israeli forces have been blamed for in the last 60 odd years. All this off course was done in the name of enhanced security and peace for the Israeli people. He was also the main force behind the construction of Jewish settlements in occupied Palestinian territory and his death will certainly bring, for some, the end of a dark chapter in history.
