Saudi Foreign Minister Visits Pakistan for Two Days
Tuesday, January 7th, 2014 12:09:10 by Ahmad MehdiForeign Minister of Saudi Arabia, Saud Al Faisal was given a warm welcome as he arrived in Pakistan on Monday for a two-day official trip in order to hold bilateral talks with the Pakistani leadership.
Sartaj Aziz, who is the adviser to the Prime Minister on National Security and Foreign Affairs, was the person who received the Saudi Ambassador at the Noor Khan Airbase. Other people who joined Sartaj Aziz included the likes of Dr. Abdul Aziz Ibrahim Al-Ghadeer and other high officials.
The current Prime Minister of Pakistan, Mian Muhammad Nawaz Sharif, was the person who invited the Saudi Foreign Minister. The two will be holding a meeting on the sidelines of United Nations General Assembly session in New York which took place in September last year.
The foreign office states that it is just a formal meeting between the representatives of both the countries. Sources claim that both the parties will discuss issues regarding national security and foreign affairs.
A special meeting will be held between the Saudi Foreign Minister and the Pakistan advisor to the prime minister. The two will discuss about bilateral relations and enhancing cooperation in various fields.
Saudi Foreign Minister will also discuss Afghanistan and regional situation including post-foreign troops’ withdrawal from the neighbouring country.
