Chaudhry Aslam Martyred in Karachi Bomb Attack

It was reported from Karachi that the senior police officer, Chaudhry Aslam, who was leading the operations against militants and extremists in Karachi since the past several years, was killed on Thursday after a powerful blast destroyed his vehicle while the police convoy was passing through the Lyari Expressway. Sources claimed that his driver and guard were also killed in the attack.

Tehreek E Taliban from Mohmand Agency took the responsibility for this attack. They claimed that Chaudhry Aslam was targeted because he was the person responsible for the death of several members of Tehreek E Taliban, including the likes of Dr Maqbool and Abdur Rehman.

Tehreek E Taliban called from Afghanistan and told Geo News that they have been planning this attack since the past several months and they finally managed to succeed on Thursday. They also explained that it was a suicide attack in which the bomber rammed the explosive-laden car into Chaudhry Aslam’s vehicle.

Tehreek E Taliban have also claimed that there are several more attacks to come. They believe that there are many more police officers who are responsible for taking lives of their people and they should all be punished.

Chaudhry Aslam was serving as a Superintendent Police (SP) of the Central Investigation Department (CID).
