Imran Khan says Parties Have Backtracked from Taliban Peace Talks Plan
Thursday, January 16th, 2014 10:06:33 by Hunain NaseerImran Khan, Chairman of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf party, yesterday spoke about his disappointment with parties, which according to him, had backtracked from the proposal to hold peace talks with Pakistani Taliban.
“All the political parties of the country had unanimously endorsed the proposed dialogue with the Taliban but now they have stepped back from their stance,” he stated while addressing a public rally.
According to Imran Khan, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf is the only party which has not ‘turned a somersault’ on the proposal of holding talks with the Taliban.
The PTI Chairman further spoke to criticize the performance of the State Minister for Water and Power, Abid Sher Ali, who has been unable to deal with the menace of electricity theft. Imran Khan said that the minister should hand in his resignation and once again asked for the administrative control of PESCO (Peshawar Electric Supply Company) to be given over to the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government, left by the PTI.
“The person who is hurling accusations of electricity theft should tell us who enjoys the control over PESCO,” Imran asked before adding, “since Abid Sher Ali failed to put a curb on electricity theft he is himself responsible for the problem and he should resign”.
