Pervez Musharraf’s Treason Case Hearing Resumed
Thursday, January 16th, 2014 11:30:39 by Hunain NaseerThe special court set up for the former ruler, Pervez Musharraf’s treason case resumed its hearing today (Thursday), according to Geo News.
The special bench, headed by Justice Faisal Arab, had ordered the former president to appear before the court on January 16 for proceedings under criminal procedure. However, the former army chief is not likely to be appearing before the special court today either. Due to his absence, the court can issue an arrest warrant after hearing both counsels.
According to sources, Musharraf’s health does not allow him to travel between Islamabad and Rawalpindi, where he was admitted earlier after complaining of heart ache.
“The doctors who conducted his test during the week kept on discussing about the state of his health to allow him to proceed to the federal capital for appearing before the special court or otherwise throughout the day on Wednesday. They ultimately decided to advise the former military ruler to desist from taking the trouble of going to Islamabad,” shared sources.
The panel of doctors that deliberated on Musharraf’s health condition was led by Maj Gen Syed Muhammad Imran Majeed, the Commandant of the Armed Forces Institute of Cardiology (AFIC) in Rawalpindi. A medical certificate detailing Musharraf’s inability to appear before court is expected to be produced by his counsel in the court hearing today.
According to Musharraf’s counsel, Ahmed Raza Kasuri, his client was not in a state of health to be able to handle the mental pressure.
