Pakistan Government in Two Minds Regarding Taliban Issue
Wednesday, January 29th, 2014 11:22:08 by Ahmad MehdiIt was reported from Islamabad that the Pakistani Government is currently giving out mixed signals regarding the Taliban issue. Few days ago Pakistan decided to launch an air strike against the militant group and eventually ended up killing more than 20 people.
Interior Minister, Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan, was the person who spoke to the press and explained how they are trying to take an action regarding the situation with the Taliban. He said that the final decision, whether to get indulged in peace talks to war with Taliban, is going to be a defining moment in the history of Pakistan.
Currently the Prime Minister of Pakistan, Nawaz Sharif, is out on a tour and therefore he is unable to take a final decision. However, once he is back, the committee is going to talk over this issue and then decide whether to pursue peace talks or not.
While addressing the press, Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan said,
“The Prime Minister will come in a few days to take you into confidence.”
He further added that consulting other stakeholders regarding this whole scenario will take at least two to three more days. Therefore, public should remain patient regarding this case.
Pakistan has recently encountered a lot of problems with terrorists, especially since the death of SP CID, Chaudhry Aslam.
