Ashrafi Wants Pakistan and Taliban to Declare Ceasefire
Monday, February 3rd, 2014 9:44:01 by Ahmad MehdiThe chairman of the Pakistani Ulema Council, Hafiz Tahir Mehmood Ashrafi, has stated that in ordre to show that the peace talks between Pakistan and Taliban will be a success, both the parties should declare a ceasefire. He claims that the ceasefire should stay intact at least for the coming three months, until Pakistan and Taliban are fully involved in the peace talks.
In a statement which was released by Ashrafi it was stated that currently the nation’s eyes are fixed on the government’s involvement in peace talks with Pakistan. He believes that these peace talks will end with an everlasting peace in the country and he wants both the parties to understand that.
The statement read, “In order to make the dialogue a successful move, the government should keep a vigilant eye on the subversive activities of forces that are against the process of peace talks.”
He also pleaded the people to pray and requested the religious parties to play their respective role in this regard. He claims that the people who are to play any role in these peace talks are actually carrying a heavy burden on their shoulders.
Ashrafi stated that all the prominent Ulema are going to meet in Karachi in order to discuss these peace talks and he hopes that it makes a positive impact on the overall idea.
