According to their spokesman, the banned Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) outfit is considering two more names to become part of its committee which will hold talks with the government’s representatives.

The names of senior journalist Orya Maqbool Jan and Investigation Editor of The News International, Ansar Abbasi are still under consideration for the Taliban committee.

The spokesperson for the TTP also expressed disappointment at the Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam’s decision to not take part in the dialog.

After these reports were aired, Ansar Abbasi talked to Geo News and clarified that he has never had any contact with the banned Taliban outfit in relation to being part of the dialog process.

He did however add that the incumbent Prime Minister, Mr. Nawaz Sharif had discussed the dialogue process with him and offered him a position on the government panel for the talks.

“I expressed my willingness to offer my cooperation as a journalist but I don’t want to join in as committee member,” shared Abbasi before adding that he would be willing to join an impartial committee which would be tasked with pointing out the mistakes of both the TTP and the government.
