Saturday, February 8th, 2014 8:10:42 by Ahmad MehdiIt was reported from Peshawar that the meteorological department has predicted rain with snowfall over the hills. They believe Malakand Division, Kashmir and Gilgit Baltistan are going to have heavy snowfall not only on Saturday but also on Sunday. On the other hand, the weather is going to remain cold and dry in most parts of the country.
The Met office believes that continental air is prevailing over most parts of the country. A shallow westerly trough is still prevailing over Northern parts of the country and it is expected to remain there for up to 3 days.
This is the reason why most of the country is going to experience cold and dry weather. However, rain and snowfall is expected to take place over the hills and in isolated places such as Malakand, Kashmir and Gilgit Baltistan.
Met office also stated that Punjab’s plain areas are going to experience thick fog.
On the other hand, Dir has experienced the highest amount of rainfall, 53 millimetres.
People travelling to Murree are requested to keep warmer clothes since two feet snowfall took place in the area.
Maximum temperature in the country was recorded at Drosh, Parachinar, where the temperature managed to hit 6 degrees.
