It has been reported from Islamabad that the Pakistani Cricket Board has shortlisted coaches for head, batting and fielding coaching. Currently no foreign coach has applied for the job and all local talents are being considered by the Pakistan Cricket Board. The decision will soon be taken about who is going to take the aforementioned positions.

While explaining the media about the final decision regarding the three positions, the committee head and the former Pakistani captain, Intikhab Alam, claims that he has already made two sets of possible candidates. He says that both these sets have been forwarded to the current chairman of the Pakistani Cricket Board, Zaka Ashraf.

Wasim Akram, who captained the Pakistani team for several years, was also in the selection committee alongside Javed Miandad. He is of the opinion that it is better for Pakistan not to opt for a foreign coach as the local coach understands the dynamics in a better way. He was delighted to see that no foreign coach has applied for the position.

Former coaches, Waqar Younis, Mohsin Khan and Ijaz Ahmed have all applied for the posts. However, Intikhab Alam was still not willing to tell the names of all the shortlisted candidates.
