Nawaz Sharif Satisfied with Taliban Peace Talks

It was reported from Ankara, Turkey, that the Prime Minister of Pakistan expressed his views regarding the peace talks that are about to take place with the Taliban. The current Prime Minister stated that the step which the government is taking will bring peace and harmony in the country.

He stated that when he took the initiative, everyone thought that this was a ridiculous idea. However, now even the armed forces are with him and support whatever he has to say regarding the peace talks.

Nawaz Sharif then stated that Taliban recently assured that they will take action against those who recently committed acts of terrorism and that is the reason why he said that there can be a positive outcome of these peace talks.

He said that in order to be stable they need democracy in not only Pakistan, but also Afghanistan. Therefore, they will first need peace in the country so they can work on getting stability and democracy.

Pakistan and India have also been deteriorating in terms of their relationship with each other. However, Nawaz Sharif spoke about the Line of Control and how the situation has improved after a meeting with Director Generals of Military Operations of both sides.
