Gas Pipeline Explodes in Sindh
Wednesday, February 19th, 2014 11:36:53 by Ahmad MehdiIt was recently reported from Ghotki that a gas pipeline, which is 36 inches in diameter, was blown. This pipeline belonged to the Qadirpur Gas Field. The explosion took place near Mir Kosh area of the city and a huge explosion was heard by nearby residents.
Recently gas pipelines are becoming a target of terrorist attacks. After a recent incident which also involved the explosion of two gas pipelines, this is another one which has been added to the list.
Sources in the police spoke about how the explosion took place. They claimed that the Guddu-Kashmore highway was blocked for traffic and this is when the explosion took place. The gas pipeline has exploded near the road that links Punjab with Sindh.
This means that this pipeline was carrying gas for different areas of Punjab and Sindh. This is the reason why gas supply has been suspended in those areas.
Official sources also spoke about the incident and have explained how it is affecting the gas supplies across the country. They revealed that due to this explosion, gas supply in the power plants of Faisalabad and Kabirwala had to be suspended.
Repair work is currently being done in order to get the gas pipeline back on track.
