Pakistan is currently going through an energy crises and it started when the former president of Pakistan, General (Retd) Pervez Musharraf came to power after putting on military coup during the time Pakistan Muslim League – Nawaz was taking charge of the government.
With growing electricity concerns since that day, Pakistan had to rely on load-shedding hours even during the scorching heat of the summers. People even tried to come out on the roads as several industries suffered throughout the time there was heavy load-shedding throughout the country.
However, with the new government coming to power, they are planning to end the energy crises in the country. There is already a coal project which Pakistan is working on and now this pact has been signed between Afghanistan, Pakistan, Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan. Pakistan is going to receive 700 megawatts of electricity through Afghanistan.
The agreement between these countries is called CASA-1000 and it is going to form an alliance in such a way that two countries are going to import electricity from the neighbouring countries of Afghanistan.
Federal Minister of Water and Power, Khawaja Asif, was the one who represented Pakistan in the meeting.
