Mufti Muneeb Claims Pakistani Constitution does not Negate Shariah
Saturday, February 22nd, 2014 7:21:26 by Ahmad MehdiPakistan was about to hold peace talks with the outlawed organization, Tehreek E Taliban. Both the parties were on a ceasefire for quite some time but then Taliban killed 23 FC soldiers they held captive since 2010s. This is what made the Pakistani government angry and they decided to hold an air strike in North Waziristan, which left at least 15 Afghans dead.
Now the peace talks have collapsed, but still the people responsible are talking about what happened.
One of Taliban’s demands was to implement the Shariah law. They stated that the Pakistani constitution is against the Shariah. However, recently Chairman of Ruet E Hilal Committee, Mufti Muneeb Ur Rehman, claimed that the Pakistani law does not entirely negate the Shariah and follows Islamic teachings.
“In order to accomplish peace, it is imperative to have unanimity of views among all the political parties and nation,” said Mufti Muneeb.
He claimed that the deadlock in the peace process is not quite desirable. He also stated that whatever action the Pakistani government is going to take in order to keep peace in the country, he is going to be supportive of them throughout that time.
He then stated that the lives laid down by the Pakistani army troops are all aimed at safeguarding the ideology of Pakistan.
