Polio Drive Begins in Balochistan

It was recently reported from Quetta that a three-day anti-polio drive is going to kick off in the province of Balochistan. There is quite a large amount of population that does not agree with the polio drive and claim that their kids are fed with poison; hence they don’t give them the polio drops altogether.

For now the ministry of health has decided to conduct a three-day event in Balochistan so that the country can get rid of the polio problem once and for all. There have been a lot of hitches in the country’s path to a polio-free Pakistan. There have been several attacks on polio teams across the country and many workers have even lost their lives.

However, the security arrangements are quite tight in Balochistan and the government is making sure that every kid in the province receives polio drops.

Health secretary of Pakistan, Saboor Kakar, came out in the open and stated that at least 2.2 million children are going to be vaccinated during this three-day campaign. He also stated that in order to reach all these 2.2 million kids, 6000 teams have been formed.

The secretary also explained how the police and the Balochistan Constabulary personnel are going to perform the security duties for all the health workers.
