Pakistan Army Jets Leave 27 Dead in North Waziristan
Tuesday, February 25th, 2014 11:30:13 by Ahmad MehdiMiranshah: It was recently reported from Miranshah, that Pakistani fighter jets once again flew on top of North Waziristan and pounded the militant hideouts. Sources claim that at least 27 militants were killed during the operation.
The early morning attacks on the North Waziristan hideouts were Pakistan Air Force’s fourth attack on the militants. PAF started these attacks on 20th of February 2014.
Security official, while explaining how many people were killed in these attacks, stated, “At least 27 militants were killed and several of their hideouts destroyed, the death toll may increase.”
Pakistan and Taliban were involved in peace talks, where they both wanted to start a ceasefire. However, Taliban took the initiative and killed 23 FC personnel they held captive since 2010. In retaliation, Pakistan decided to pound militant hideouts in North Waziristan where they killed at least 15 people.
Now the Pakistani army is not willing to start a ceasefire. In fact, the peace talks have collapsed altogether and the Pakistani government has allowed these air strikes in North Waziristan. Now the question is whether Tehreek E Taliban will be willing to take an initiative for the ceasefire or not. For now, their representatives are not talking to the government representatives.
