Rustam Shah believes Pakistani Government should Declare Ceasefire
Saturday, March 1st, 2014 3:34:39 by Ahmad MehdiIt was recently reported from Peshawar that the government negotiation committee member, Rustam Shah, has stated that the Pakistani government should respect the call of ceasefire from the Taliban.
Pakistan and Tehreek E Taliban were involved in peace talks. Both the parties claimed that they are going to be opting for a ceasefire and will not attack each other. However, Tehreek E Taliban took the initiative and killed 23 FC personnel which they held captive since 2010. This is when the Pakistani government decided to hold airstrikes in North Waziristan.
This caused havoc in the area. The airstrikes killed more than 80 people in a matter of eight days. This is when Tehreek E Taliban again asked for a cease fire.
The Pakistani government is still considering whether they should opt for a ceasefire or not. The two committees that were involved in the final decision have requested the armed forces to stop the attacks so that no further harm is done to the people of North Waziristan and the peace talks can continue.
On the other hand, the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has already started preparing for the IDPs so they can be fully accommodated during the time of need.
