“Sehat ka Insaf” Campaign Cancelled Due to Security Reasons
Monday, March 10th, 2014 9:50:09 by Ahmad MehdiIt was recently reported from Peshawar that the campaign “Sehat ka Insaf” which was to begin in Peshawar, the provincial capital of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, has been cancelled due to security reasons.
Currently the security condition in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa region has worsened because of the Pakistan-Taliban relationships. The two parties were expected to be involved in a dialogue for peace but they were unable to come to common grounds. Even though the talks are not off the table, things are not exactly positive for both the parties.
It all started when 23 FC personnel were killed by Tehreek E Taliban. The Pakistani army then decided to raid North Waziristan. After several airstrikes, Tehreek E Taliban stated that they want to settle for a ceasefire. Even though both the parties are currently examining a ceasefire, they have still not come to the same page.
Due to these reasons, the Sehat ka Insaf campaign has been cancelled altogether. The plan was to vaccinate 700,000 children. This was being done with the support of UNICEF and WHO. However, since the security situation is weak, it is going to be hard for this campaign to start in the first place.
